New observations of the pulsating PMS star V351 Ori

چکیده
We present new precise photoelectric observations of the Pre–Main-Sequence δ Scuti star, V351 Ori. These new data show that V351 Ori pulsates in a mixture of several radial modes (at least four). The comparison between observations and detailed pulsational models, allows us to provide independent constraints on the mass and luminosity of the star. The predicted distance is 210 pc, indicating that V351 Ori is much closer than the Orion star forming region. With an inferred mass of ∼1.8 M and an uncertain evolutionary stage, V351 Ori represents an excellent candidate for future asteroseismological studies that will assess whether it is a young PMS star (∼6 Myr) or an evolved object (∼1 Gyr) leaving the main-sequence.

A Photometric Study of the Young Stellar Population Throughout the λ Orionis Star-Forming Region
We present VRI photometry of 320,917 stars with 11 . R . 18 throughout the λ Ori star-forming region. Using the more spatially limited spectroscopic surveys of Dolan & Mathieu to define the color magnitude domain of young low-mass members of the association, and removing statistically the field stars in this domain, we use our photometry to identify a representative PMS population throughout th...
متن کاملPulsating Pre-main Sequence Stars in Ic 4996 and Ngc 6530
Asteroseismology of pulsating pre-main sequence (PMS) stars has the potential of testing the validity of current models of PMS structure and evolution. As a first step, a sufficiently large sample of pulsating PMS stars has to be established, which allows to select candidates optimally suited for a detailed asteroseismological analysis based on photometry from space or ground based network data.
متن کاملOptical and near infrared observations of V 1647 Ori and McNeil ’ s Nebula in February – April 2004
We combine our V , R, I , J , H , K s photometric and near infrared spectroscopic observations of the outburst star V1647 Ori obtained in the period 12 February–24 April 2004 with published data in order to make inferences on the geometry of the object and the nature of the eruption. The main results are as follows: (1) Our photometric results do not indicate systematic fading of the star in th...
متن کاملThe Spatial Distribution of the Orionis Pre-main-sequence Population
The Ori star-forming region presents a snapshot of a moderate-mass giant molecular cloud 1{2 Myr after cloud disruption by OB stars, with the OB stars, the low-mass stellar population, remnant molecular clouds, and the dispersed gas all still present. We have used optical photometry and multi-object spectroscopy for lithium absorption to identify 266 PMS stars in 8 degrees 2 of the region. We a...
متن کامل53 Persei : a slowly pulsating B star ?
A new investigation of the behaviour of the star 53 Per was performed. New photometric observations allow to confirm twodominant periods p1=2.16 d, p2= 1.67 d.A third one p3= 3.64 d is detected. These long period variations are present in our radial velocities data and in old equivalent width data. The amplitude of the p1 = 2.16 d period increases from 1977 to 1991, while the amplitude of the 1...
